On November 19, the regular meeting of Brant Lodge was held, with new applications received and a new member initiated according to Ancient custom. The degree team conferred the EA degree on Bro. Martin Herbst, delivering the parts with emotion and precision to the delight of all present. As Brant Lodge continues to include a variety of members in the degree cast, it was enjoyable to see Bro. Jeff Gregory deliver the questions to the candidate in the West, Bro. Draghici explain the lesser lights and Bro. Grier point out the warrant, constitution and by-laws. W. Bro. Bill Sinclair delivered the charity lecture, leaving Bro. Herbst with the main lesson of the evening. As usual, the Junior Warden’s lecture was excellent, shared by Bros. Soper and Sprague.
On a more sombre note, W. Bro. Meecham called for a moment of silence for Bro. Baptiste, who passed to the GLA recently, and Bro. Secretary noted that R. W. Bro. David Midgely passed away suddenly on Sunday November 18.
After the lodge was closed, all members and visitors enjoyed slow cooked sirloin beef on a bun, Caesar salad and some refreshments while discussing the evening and catching up with the events of the past month.
Congratulations, Bro. Herbst, on becoming Brant Lodge’s newest member!
