W. Bro. Don Deponeo Memorial Service

It is with a heavy heart that I pass along the news that W. Bro. Don Deponeo of Brant 663 passed to the GLA on Oct 30, 2017.

A Masonic memorial service will be held under the leadership of Brant Lodge No. 663 on Sunday, Nov 12, 2017 at the Burlington Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.60, upper level for 1:30 PM. Please assemble by 1 PM for parts assignments; regalia to be worn. Family and friends are most welcome to attend.

I encourage all local Masons to attend this attend to this important and public duty.

DEPONEO, Donald Joseph Don passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at The St. Catharines General Hospital after a brief illness. He leaves behind his dear wife of 65 years Beryl (O’Hara) Deponeo; his daughters Cheryl Mifflin (Brian) and Donna Deponeo; grandson Kevin Mifflin (Theresa); granddaughter Breanne Mifflin (Chris Martens); great-granddaughters Katie and Emily (Kevin and Theresa), brothers Lawrence (Eileen) and Eugene (Lisa); predeceased by his brother Carl (Dorothy) and by his sister Anne Finney (Tom, deceased). He will also be missed by many other family members and friends. Don was born in Chester, England, the son of Pasquale and Josephine Deponeo. He immigrated to Canada in 1955, residing in Burlington, ON until September 2016 when they moved to Grimsby, ON. In his early years, Don worked at the family fish and chip shop and drove double decker buses, before serving two years in the British Army driving tanks in the Middle East. He met Beryl when they were both 11 years old. They were married September 24, 1952 at St. Francis’ Church in Chester England. Donald worked at The Steel Company of Canada in Hamilton, ON until he retired at age of 55. He worked as a driver for Tim Horton’s in Burlington up until the age of 80. He was an avid golfer, loved fishing, and enjoyed spending time with the family. Don was an active member of the Masons, serving in many capacities including Master of the Burlington Lodge No. 165. Don recently received a 60 year member pin from The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60. A memorial service and celebration of Donald’s life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion, Burlington Branch 60, 828 Legion Rd. Burlington, ON, at 1:00 p.m. sharp on November 12, 2017. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
