The October 30, 2017 Emergent meeting of Brant Lodge was well-attended and the candidates for the evening proved their proficiency with excellence. W. Bro. Meecham confirmed that the members were satisfied, and the second degree was conferred on Bros. Parise and Gregory according to Ancient custom. The degree team performed well and the lessons of the degree were conveyed with solemnity and accuracy. The entire degree team was made up of newer members with only one Past Master performing a part. Brant Lodge is enjoying some fun, momentum and the quality of the work was on full display, a testament to the Worshipful Master and his team. After sharing some final news items and the sad news of W. Bro. Don Deponeo passing away, Lodge was closed at 9:15. And so begun the “shaving of the West Gate…”
The social hour was a light-hearted one in which the Senior Warden, Bro. Stott, issued a challenge to all Masons present – if $500 could be raised for Carpenter Hospice, he would shave his 25 year old beard! Brant Lodge and visitors generously donated over $700 and so W. Bro. Meecham and R. W. Bro. Marshall shaved off Bro. Stott’s beard to the delight of all present… Thank you to everyone who donated money to this worthy cause – Carpenter Hospice brings comfort and peace in the final days and hours of terminally ill patients, and it is with pride that Brant Lodge was able to make a donation on the night.
