The cold, -19C January weather was no match for the warmth of Brant Lodge during the January regular meeting. Visitors from Electric Lodge No. 495 and Buchanan Lodge, along with the District Deputy Grand Master of South Huron, R.W. Bro. Steven Hearn, attended to support Bro. Brad Harrison being passed to the second degree of Freemasonry.
Bro. Brad Harrison proved his proficiency with letter perfect precision, leaving the attendees feeling like the evening would be a special one. The degree team rewarded Bro. Harrison’s hard work by conferring the 2nd Degree to a similarly excellent standard – notably Bros. Brown and Blanco, newer Masons, delivering parts with clarity, understanding and meaning. W. Bro. Reg Meecham presided over the evening and was well-proud of the team effort, and had the pleasure of presenting G.L. Certificates to Bros. Brown and Blanco at the end of the degree.
R.W. Bro. Steven Hearn was generous with his praise of the evening in general, and of the quality of the degree work in particular. He had last attended Brant Lodge when W. Bro. Meecham was raised to the 3rd degree in May 2012.
Bro. Bill Brown delivered an engaging piece of Masonic education, explaining the significance of, and origins (both speculative and esoteric) of the columns at the SW and JW stations. This short piece fit nicely during the period when our candidate was preparing for the lecture and charge.
During our banquet hour, Bros. Grier and Brown supplied a hearty meatball and pasta meal with garlic bread and freshly grated parmesan cheese. It was particularly nice to have W. Bro. Peter Buchner back in Lodge after a considerable time away, and the meal was a way to welcome him back with warm fraternal feelings.
Congratulations, Bro. Harrison, on becoming our newest FellowCraft!
