The Brethren of Brant Lodge No. 663 enjoyed a short evening of Masonic Education and fellowship, with no degree work this month, and with W. Bro. Chris Webster standing in for W. Bro. Lee Collins. After the regular business was completed, the principal officers delivered the first annual “State of the Lodge Address” using PowerPoint. The Address focused on answering the central question “Who is Brant Lodge?” and also provided newer members some background on the roles of the principal officers.
Bro. Al McLaren from Lincoln Lodge No. 544 related how he had found a vandalized headstone belonging to a deceased brother in a Hamilton cemetery. Research shows that the deceased was a Brother Thomas George Spickett, who was initiated into Acacia Lodge No. 61 A.F.& A.M. in 1871 and died in 1880. During this time Bro. Spicket was married, had two sons, had both sons die within three days of each other, had a daughter and then passed away himself eight months later at 31 years of age. Bro. McLaren announced that he was having the stone replaced as a project for his Lodge
