Brethren –
This Sunday’s 3+5+7 Minute Masonic Education topic was “The Chamber of Reflection” and was delivered by Bro. Bill Brown. Visitors from St. Clair Lodge No. 135, Electric Lodge No. 495 and several members from Brant Lodge No. 663 participated in this second of a series of Masonic Education discussions.
Bro. Brown explored the purpose for the Chamber in the context of giving candidates a moment of silence, serenity and contemplation prior to their initiation into Freemasonry. He then described the variety of objects that can be placed in the Chamber, ranging from the elaborate French tradition, to the more Spartan approach preferred in the United States and at Brant Lodge. He also shared from the writings of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, as well as W:. B:. Andrew Hammer of Alexandria Lodge No. 22 A.F.&A.M. in Washington D.C.
Participants shared their thoughts either having experienced the Chamber or not, and how they thought it would add to the solemnity and personal impact of a candidate’s journey into Freemasonry.
This week’s talk was open to all E.A. Masons from Hamilton District A in general, and Brant Lodge No. 663 in particular. If you missed the presentation, feel free to attend a Brant Lodge meeting or one of our Coffee Clubs (Sundays 9AM-11AM) to learn more!
