The Worshipful Master and his Wardens, assisted by Bro. Jeff Novak, Bro. Bill Brown and Bro. Will Craig, replaced the old altar pillars with new, solid red oak pillars with proper Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian capitals. These lesser lights were illuminated by R. W. John Pollock for the first time with elegant beeswax candles, which had the effect of bringing solemnity and a pleasant scent to the lodge room. The lecture in the E.A.D. now will be easier to deliver, as the pillars will be representative of these three orders of architecture, for the benefit of future candidates for Initiation. Special thanks to Bro. Myron Michaels for his “curious and masterly workmanship” in assembling, sanding, staining and applying varathane to the new pillars for the enjoyment of Masons in Burlington.
Members observed a moment of silence for the passing, this year, of Bro. Bob Wilber, W. Bro. Doug Fox and Bro. Joseph Aghion, and then the Lodge was opened to the third degree so that two members could prove their proficiency in the Sublime Degree. Both performed to the satisfaction of the members present, and lodge was closed down to the first degree again.
W. Bro. Bill Sinclair was balloted for and accepted, and becomes our newest Affiliated Past Master.
Before the Lodge was closed for the evening, the Brethren showed their support for W. Bro. Bruno Schobel, who after 42 years of membership, will be moving to another city to be closer to his family. He was applauded by all present and acknowledged by the Worshipful Master.
The Lodge closed in harmony at 9:15PM and all present enjoyed a social hour together to mark the Election of a new slate of principal officers.
